On the Next Presentation of All This Jazz: The Disney Songbook

Listen in for the next installment of All This Jazz, right here on Public Radio 89.5 (KWGS-FM). Our show begins at 10pm on Saturday the 14th, and it'll also be conveyed via live stream at PublicRadioTulsa.org.

For those new to our game: ATJ airs every Saturday night on Public Radio 89.5, from 10pm till midnight. We always thereafter offer a 7pm re-airing of the program the following Sunday evening, on Jazz 89.5-2, which is our station's all-jazz HD Radio channel.

Each and every week, we spin modern jazz, both recent and classic, across a range of styles -- from Mose Allison to Joe Zawinul, Geri Allen to John Zorn. Plus, the second half of our two-hour show, beginning at 11pm, invariably carries a theme.

This time around, that theme will be The Disney Songbook. Lots of wonderful tunes go back to the storied Disney filmography -- wait, that "storied" might be a pun; sorry -- not to mention several jazz standards as well. Thus we'll hear, in the latter part of ATJ, jazz takes on numbers originating from "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs" (1937), "Pinocchio" (1940), "Lady and the Tramp" (1955), "Beauty and the Beast" (1991), and more. And in the first half of the show, we'll dig music from Ray Brown, Miles Davis, Frank Kimbrough, Liberty Ellman, and others. It'll be, rest assured, a hoot.

Join us, jazz fans. All This Jazz is all for you.

PS: The latest playlist data for our radio show can be found here...and the ever-popular ATJ Facebook page is at this link. Thanks.

Scott Gregory started working at Public Radio Tulsa in 2006; he started listening to public radio circa 1980, when he and NPR both marked their tenth birthdays (although only one of them commemorated the occasion with a party at Skate World). Scott became this radio station's Operations Director in the summer of 2023; he also hosts and programs All This Jazz, which airs every Saturday night on Public Radio 89.5-1 from 9pm till midnight.
