The Oklahoma State Department of Health on Monday reported 24 new cases of COVID-19 and two new deaths in the state.
A total of 4,613 Oklahomans are now known to have been infected with the coronavirus since the first case was reported March 6, and 274 have died since the first death was reported March 18.
Both deaths were men between 50 and 64 years old. To date, 828 people have been hospitalized with COVID-19.
The health department also reported Monday that 37 people had recovered, meaning they did not die, are not currently hospitalized and it has been at least 14 days since they tested positive for COVID-19. In all, 3,241 people have recovered, leaving Oklahoma with 1,372 known, active cases.
There were 712 new confirmed cases from May 1 through May 7, up 18.5% from the same period the week before. There were 584 patients considered to have recovered, an increase of 8.3%, and 38 people died, a decrease of 11.6%.
Oklahoma County is nearing 1,000 confirmed cases; it currently has 945. Tulsa County has 700 cases, Cleveland County has 456 and Texas County has 403. The panhandle county of less than 20,000 people is the site of a pork processing plant with a COVID-19 outbreak among its 2,700 workers.
