The Shanghai Opera Symphony Orchestra

The Shanghai Opera Symphony Orchestra was established in 1956 along with the construction of the famous Shanghai Opera House and is renowned for its interpretation of classical symphony repertoire. Conducted by renowned maestros from around the world, the orchestra made its first North American tour this winter, debuting in concert halls across America and Canada. Appearing at Armstrong Auditorium on Sunday, February 24th, the orchestra presented a program with conductor Zhang Chengjie and featuring Rachmaninov's Symphony No. 2 in e minor, Op 27 and Tchaikovsky's Piano Concerto No. 1 in B-flat minor, Op 23 with pianist Song Siheng.
