Performance Oklahoma: OKC Philharmonic

Jean-Yves Thibaudet

Two-time Grammy Award nominee and one of the world’s leading pianists, Jean-Yves Thibaudet made his seventh appearance with the OKC Philharmonic on Saturday, May 11th at the Civic Center Music Hall in downtown Oklahoma City, as the guest soloist in Franz Liszt’s second piano concerto. The Philharmonic, with new music director Alexander Mickelthwate, framed the work with the Kaiser-Walzer by Johann Strauss Jr, a musical "toast" written in 1889 and one of the great tone poems of Richard Strauss "Ein Heldenleben" Jean-Yves Thibaudet offers fascinating commentary for the broadcast, the program titled "Deep German Romanticism" presented by the Philharmonic as its Classics 7 concert of the 30th anniversary season.

This program airs Saturday, June 8th, 8pm on Classical 88-7, HD-1.
