Performance Oklahoma: Westminster Choir

Kemp Concert Series

The Westminster Choir

Setting the standard for choral excellence for 99 years, the Westminster Choir is composed of students at Westminster Choir College and has been the chorus in residence for Spoleto Festival USA since 1977, the choir performing both in concert and as the opera chorus. The ensemble’s 2018-19 season includes concert tours in Beijing, China, Texas and Oklahoma, performances at the American Choral Directors Association’s National Conference in Kansas City, concerts and broadcasts at its home in Princeton and its annual residency at the Spoleto Festival. Praised by the NYTimes for its full bodied incisive singing, the choir also forms the core of the Westminster Symphonic Choir which has performed and recorded with leading conductors and orchestras of our time. Appearing at Oklahoma City’s First Presbyterian Church, and presented by the Kemp Concert series on Saturday, January 19th, the Choir, led by its director Joe Miller offered a program titled "Half Acre" exploring the nature of our propensity to love; people, places and music with settings of diverse texts in works by composers past and present.

This program airs Saturday, March 9th, 8pm on Classical 88.7 HD-1.
