"Rediscover Gilcrease" Will Unveil the New Helmerich Center for American Research to the Public

Aug 28, 2014

The "Rediscover Gilcrease" weekend -- a two-day, free-to-the-public gala happening at the museum on September 6th and 7th -- will feature unique attractions, special activities, and lots of family-friendly entertainment. Among the highlights, without question, will be the official opening of the striking new Helmerich Center for American Research at Gilcrease. Several different lectures and presentations will be presented at the Helmerich Center, and one of them will be given by our guest today. Our guest is Brian Hosmer, the H.G. Barnard Associate Professor of Western American History at the University of Tulsa, who'll give a public talk at 2pm on Saturday the 6th entitled "Oklahoma Is 'Native America' -- Finding Oklahoma Indian History in Gilcrease." Prof. Hosmer talks with us about his upcoming address, previews the "Rediscover Gilcrease" weekend as a whole, and speaks in detail about the vast archival holdings as well as the world-class stature of Gilcrease Museum as a research facility and scholarly treasure-trove.
