Tune in to The Rhythm Atlas, hosted by Denis McGilvray, for a celebration of fantastic music connected with the Mardi Gras & Carnival festivals taking place around the world on Tuesday, March 5. The massive Carnival celebrations in Brazil and Colombia are represented by Elza Soares, Caetano Veloso, Carlinhos Brown, and Alvaro Cardenas. And from the Caribbean islands of Trinidad, Guadeloupe, and Martinique you’ll hear Calypso Rose, Kassav’, and Tambu, along with a vintage calypso song by Jamaican-American Harry Belafonte.
