A Split Weekend Weather-Wise for Green Country

NWS Graphic

A cold front is expected to push across the region late this
afternoon through tonight with precipitation chances becoming
possible after midnight across Eastern Oklahoma and Northwest
Arkansas. Late tonight into early Sunday morning there is a
potential for light freezing drizzle to develop northwest of
Interstate 44 across parts of Pawnee...Osage and Washington
counties in Northeast Oklahoma. Any ice accumulations are forecast
to be very light on mainly elevated surfaces. Rain chances are
forecast for the rest of Eastern Oklahoma and Northwest Arkansas.

Ahead of the cold front...warm temperatures and southerly winds
could allow for areas of limited fire weather danger to be
possible this afternoon. Fire dangers should weaken this evening
and overnight as relative humidity values as well as
precipitation chances increase.

Rain chances are forecast to continue across mainly south of
Interstate 44 in Eastern Oklahoma and also Northwest Arkansas
Sunday morning with slight chances across Northwest Arkansas
Sunday afternoon. The greater potential for rain looks to be
across Southeast Oklahoma into Northwest Arkansas Sunday morning.
After a much colder Sunday...temperatures are forecast to begin a
warming trend next week with highs back closer to seasonal average
for the second half of the week.
