Stepson, wife arrested in Sapulpa murder

Sapulpa Police

SAPULPA, Okla. (AP) — Authorities have arrested a Sapulpa man on a first-degree murder complaint in connection with the shooting death of his stepfather.

Police found 54-year-old Ricky McClean fatally shot on Sunday night. Authorities arrested his stepson, Scott Edwards, on the murder complaint. They also arrested McClean's wife, 52-year-old Michelle McClean, on a complaint of accessory to murder.

Police claim that Edwards shot Ricky McClean after the two got into an argument. Police allege that Edwards and his mother, Michelle McClean, tried to cover up the incident by claiming it was self-defense.

Police claim Edwards shot himself in the left arm to support the self-defense claim.

Edwards and Michelle McClean are being held in the Creek County jail. Authorities did not know whether they had attorneys.
