The Takács Quartet! with commentary from Geraldine Walther on Performance Oklahoma

The Takács Quartet, recognized as one of the world’s great ensembles offers performances described as "peerless in artistry," "seraphic in unity of execution," "searing" and "inspiring."  Playing with a unique blend of drama, warmth and humor and combining four distinctive musical personalities, the Quartet brings fresh insights to the string quartet repertoire in live performance and through its award winning discography.   Appearing as guests of Chamber Music Tulsa, the Quartet presented two concerts and a master class during their three day visit to Tulsa, Oklahoma this past Spring, the second concert our featured program, given on Sunday, March 22nd at 3pm in the Williams Theatre at the Tulsa Performing Arts Center.  The Quartet offered a Viennese program of works including the Quartet in C Major, Op 76, No. 3 (Emperor) of Franz Joseph Haydn, the Quartet in a minor, D 804 (Rosamunde) of Franz Schubert and the Quartet in F Major, Op 59, No. 1 (Razumovsky 1) of Ludwig van Beethoven.  In the course of the program we’ll enjoy personal and insightful commentary from Geraldine Walther who marks her 10th year as the violist of this remarkable ensemble.

Performance Oklahoma airs on KWTU 88.7 Saturday night at 8pm.
