Tulsa Authorities Make Fifth Arrest in Prison Gang-Related Slaying

Tulsa County Sheriff

TULSA, Okla. (AP) — Oklahoma authorities have arrested a fifth person and are seeking two more in the December slaying of a member of a white supremacist prison gang, Tulsa County officials said Thursday.

Billy Shawn Griffith, 39, was arrested Wednesday night and was being held on $2 million bail, said Tulsa County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Casey Roebuck. Griffith is one of seven people charged with first-degree murder in the gang-related beating death of Jared Langworthy, 23.

Two other suspects charged in the case, 49-year-old Jerry Williamson and 36-year-old Aaron Welch, were still not in custody, Roebuck said.

Court records don’t indicate if any of the men have retained an attorney.

All of the suspects are members or associates of the Universal Aryan Brotherhood, a violent, Oklahoma-based white-supremacist prison gang, Roebuck said. He said Langworthy “got sideways” with the gang.

Langworthy was beaten with a baseball bat and had burn marks over an Aryan Brotherhood tattoo on his shoulder, according to a court affidavit.
