Longtime Tulsa City Councilor David Patrick has died. His death was unexpected. Sources tell KWGS, Patrick was discovered dead around 3 p.m. this afternoon.
Patrick first ran for office two decades ago, after his brother, Councilor Mike Patrick, died in an oil field accident. David Patrick often faced, and occasionally lost to, Roscoe Turner in elections for District 3.
He had decided to not to seek re-election this year. His daughter, Crista Patrick, is on the ballot in November seeking the District 3 Council Seat.
Patrick was the current Tulsa City Council Chair and served on the Tulsa Authority for the Recovery of Energy Board.
“David Patrick was a good man and a loyal friend. He was loved and admired at every level of the City government. His love for his family was reflected in his service to Tulsa. David’s common sense made him a success in all his entrepreneurial endeavors and helped him resolve so many conflicts at the City. I am thankful for the chance I had to learn from him over a decade working together and am heartbroken he won’t have the long retirement with Dannette that he had earned,” Mayor G.T. Bynum said.
“Councilor Patrick was a dear, kind friend. You could always count on his quick knowledge of city government at meetings. He always knew how things worked and how things were done. I’m going to miss his sweet smiling face and his greeting on the floor of, “hey girl!” District 5 City Councilor Karen Gilbert said.
