The Tulsa Housing Authority has extended the deadline to apply for emergency rental assistance to Sept. 30.
THA said since applications opened Aug. 24, more than 2,000 have come in, requesting almost $3 million in assistance.
"The need is great and we want to ensure that all residents of Tulsa County who can benefit from this program have the opportunity to receive this assistance," THA Vice President of Strategic Planning Jeff Hall said in a statement. "With the CDC announcing an eviction moratorium, the program can help bridge the gap for landlords whose tenants who are behind in rent due to the impact of COVID-19."
Any household in Tulsa County that needs help paying rent because of a job loss or pay cut due to the pandemic can apply for up to three months in rent assistance, to a maximum of $3,000. Funds are being awarded on a first come, first served basis.
Applications can be filled out online. Documentation like a copy of the lease, pay stubs and a letter from a landlord is required.
People who need help with the application process can also call 918-236-0949, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
THA was approved for up to $15 million in funding for the rental assistance program from Tulsa County's allocation of Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security Act funds.
