Tulsa Police stopped 150 drivers who failed to properly use seatbelts. The Mingo Valley Division used the month of February to focus on seatbelt and child restraint enforcement.

Officer Leland Ashley says people think they just want revenue from citations.

"The case to create a better safety environment for small children and adults when riding in a vehicle. We know from experience that improperly secured child seats or not even wearing seatbelts can cause great injury if you're involved in a collision."

Officer Ashley says police want individuals to be aware of seatbelt safety for adults and children. He says the 150 drivers were cited.

"Failure to properly secure seatbelt or failure to utilize proper child restraint. So that's just what we saw. You think about that was just one area of town, just for a month. So it kind of gives you sort of an indication of what it would look like if we targeted the whole city."
