Tulsa, Oklahoma – On today's show, we speak with Jose-Luis Novo, who'll be the Guest Conductor for the Tulsa Symphony Orchestra on Saturday night, the 16th, when the TSO presents a concert entitled "England." On the program, as you might expect, are classical pieces that strongly echo the British people and character: Haydn's Symphony No. 104 ("London"), Britten's "Four Sea Interludes" from his "Peter Grimes" opera, and Elgar's "Enigma Variations." Novo is seen by many as one of Spain's most promising younger conductors, and he previously served as Guest Conductor for the TSO a few years ago. He's currently the Music Director and Conductor of the Binghamton Philharmonic, and is also the Music Director and Conductor of the Annapolis Symphony Orchestra. He drops by StudioTulsa to talk about the music scheduled for Saturday night's concert --- which happens at the PAC, beginning at 7:30pm, by the way --- and he also describes the positive changes and improvements he's seen in our orchestra since his last gig here in Tulsa. (For more information on the concert, including information about tickets, please call 918-596-7111.)
