Two More Oklahomans Succumb to Flu

Daniel Paquet/Wikimedia

The flu claims two more lives in Oklahoma. As we move into peak flu season, it brings the total of influenza related deaths to 13. The State Health Department’s Tony Sellars says getting vaccinated is still the best way to prevent or mitigate the flu.

Totals in Oklahoma so far this season are 331 hospitalizations and 13 deaths, far below last year’s record. Most of the deaths have been in the older population…65 or older. Tulsa County leads the state in the number of hospitalizations with 74. Free shots are offered at all health department clinics throughout the state.
