This Week On Performance Oklahoma: Encore

Guest pianist Tanya Bannister

Now marking its thirteenth year, the Brightmusic Society offers Oklahoma audiences a regular season of beloved and diverse chamber music performances presented by an ensemble of musicians largely based in the Oklahoma City metro area. Tanya Bannister, concert pianist, recording artist and director of Austria’s AlpenKammerMusik Festival joined the Brightmusic Chamber Ensemble as a special guest artist for a program entitled “Piano and Friends,” the concert, the third presented this season offered on Tuesday, January 19th at St. Paul’s Episcopal Cathedral in downtown Oklahoma City.

The concert program features two Trios for Clarinet, Cello and Piano: the Fantasy Trio Op 26 of Robert Muczynski, and the Trio in a minor, Op 114 by Johannes Brahms; Frédéric Chopin’s Ballade No. 4 in f minor, Op 52 and the Piano Quartet No. 1 in c minor, Op 15 of Gabriel Fauré. Special guest Robert Henry, former attorney general of Oklahoma and President of Oklahoma City University offers a remembrance of Jeannette Sias, who passed away in April of 2014, the concert also given In Memorium of one of Oklahoma’s great civic leaders, patrons of the arts and a longtime supporter of the Brightmusic Society. Also performing on the program is Co-Artistic Director and clarinetist Chad Burrow, violinist Gregory Lee, violist Mark Neumann, and cellist Jonathan Ruck.
