It has been on the project maps for over 60-years.
We are getting closer to completing the Gilcrease Expressway. It will stretch from Intersate -244 at the International Airport, around north Tulsa, then head south across the Arkansas River near Sand Springs and connect to I-44.
The Oklahoma Turnpike Authority says work could begin soon, possibly before the end of the year. The work could take three years. The biggest part of the project will be a new bridge over the Arkansas River near Berryhill.
Only the west leg portion of the road would be a tollway.
