Tulsa, Oklahoma – This is the time of year when people make "resolutions" to eat less, exercise more, etc. If only it were that easy.... On today's show, we're thinking about how our brain enters the picture when it comes to making those resolutions actually occur. Our guest is Dr. Kelly Traver, co-author of a new book called "The Program: The Brain-Smart Approach to the Healthiest You --- The Life-Changing 12-Week Method." It's a remarkable "lifestyle-changing" text that puts forth a new system (or "program") that's already been embraced by such employee-friendly corporations as Google, Target, and Stanford University. As Dr. Traver explains on our show, it all turns on understanding that the human brain resists change. It's just wired that way --- it's who we are; it's how we have evolved. Thus "The Program" asserts that only when we have learned the secrets of how to get our brain to work for us --- and not against us --- can we actually make healthy and permanent lifestyle changes. It comes down to tricking one's own brain, so to speak. And it seems to work. Combining cutting-edge discoveries in neuroscience with the latest data in medicine, nutrition, and fitness, "The Program" is an impressive volume.
