Tulsa, Oklahoma – Our guest today is writer Alison Buckholtz. Her articles and essays have appeared in The New York Times, The Washington Post, Real Simple, Salon.com, and other publications. She was a resident of Washington, D.C., before marrying into the military; she and her husband now have two children. Buckholtz joins us to discuss her first book, which has just been published --- it's a memoir about her life, work, travels, and relationships since becoming a military spouse, and it's called "Standing By: An American Military Family in a Time of War." One critic (writing in the pages of Library Journal) has recently called the book "a vivid and sensitive account of the sacrifices made by families of military personnel in wartime."
