Performance Oklahoma: Canterbury Voices

OKC Jazz Orchestra

This week, we’ll hear Canterbury Voices in the season opening concert presented on Sunday October 13th featuring Sacred Concert by the great American pianist, composer and band leader Duke Ellington, his three sacred concerts combined and arranged by Danish choral composer and conductor John Høybye and the bandleader, jazz arranger and composer Peder Pederson. The program opened with Five Hymns in Jazz Style, the hymn arrangements for chorus and jazz orchestra commissioned by Canterbury Voices and made by American trumpeter, conductor and jazz arranger Dan Keberle. Joining Canterbury Voices and artistic director Randi von Ellefson for the concert given at Oklahoma City's Civic Center Music Hall: the OKC Jazz Orchestra (music director Brian Gorrell,) jazz vocalist Pamela Hammond and tap dancer Anthony Giandiletti.
