Hope (the stars align so that) you can tune in for the next broadcast of All This Jazz, beginning at 10pm on Saturday the 18th -- right here on Public Radio 89.5 (KWGS-FM)...and online via stream at PublicRadioTulsa.org.
In the first half of the program, we'll hear from Chick Corea, Paul Desmond, and others -- plus we'll check out the newly released "live duet from 1990" recording from Jim Hall and Charlie Haden (on the Impulse! label).
And then, for our dedicated and/or sleepless late-night listeners, the second-hour theme of ATJ will be Signs of the Zodiac. We'll thus hear such masterworks as Wayne Shorter's "Virgo," Woody Shaw's "In a Capricornian Way," selections from the "Zodiac Suite" by the brilliant and pioneering pianist/composer/arranger Mary Lou Williams, and more.
It'll be downright nifty. And lots o' fun. Join us.
(The fine print: All This Jazz [please see recent playlist data here] airs every Saturday night on Public Radio 89.5, from 10pm till midnight. We always thereafter offer a 7pm re-airing of the program on Sunday evening, on Jazz 89.5-2, which is our station's all-jazz HD Radio channel. Each week, we spin modern jazz, both recent and classic, across a range of styles. And the second half of our two-hour program, beginning at 11pm, invariably carries a theme. Also, for those of you so inclined: All This Jazz now maintains a Facebook page. Thank you; that is all.)
