Yonder Mountain String Band On Mountain Stage

Yonder Mountain String Band.
Brian Blauser

Yonder Mountain String Band makes its second appearance on Mountain Stage, recorded live in Charleston, W.Va. The Colorado band has followed a trail blazed by Bela Fleck, Leftover Salmon and Sam Bush: namely, introducing a high-energy and modernistic form of bluegrass to a younger generation of thrill-seekers.

Adam Aijala plays guitar and sings alongside fellow founding members Dave Johnston on banjo and Ben Kaufman on bass. They're joined by fiddler and singer Allie Kral and mandolin player Jake Jolliff. A frequent visitor to Mountain Stage, Jolliff recently appeared on the show alongside Tony Trischka, as well as with the contemporary acoustic band Joy Kills Sorrow.
