Tulsa, Oklahoma – It's Science Week here on StudioTulsa --- and so we're offering a series of five interesting conversations from our archives, each of them concerning various matters scientific. On today's show, we hear from the celebrated paleontologist and anatomy professor Neil Shubin, who is probably best known for co-discovering Tiktaalik, the so-called "fish with hands." This discovery, which happened only a few years ago, has already greatly influenced our understanding of evolutionary biology. In his recent book, "Your Inner Fish" (which is now out in paperback), Shubin carefully examines fossils and DNA in order to show, for example, how human hands actually resemble fish fins --- and how major parts of our genomes look and function like those of worms and bacteria.
