Oklahoma City, OK – G opinion sought on caucus issues
OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) A state lawmaker has asked Attorney General Drew Edmondson for a legal opinion on the use of state-owned facilities by political caucuses at the state Capitol.
State Rep. Mike Reynolds of Oklahoma City said Friday he wants to know if it's constitutional to use state-owned computers and envelopes to support caucus issues.
Reynolds, a Republican, says he does not understood how the Republican and Democratic caucuses in the Legislature can use state resources for their own benefit.
Reynolds requested the opinion after Rep. Ken Miller of Edmond sent a letter to members of his Republican caucus in mid-July in support of his candidacy for speaker of the House. The cover letter has a House of Representatives letterhead.
Miller and Rep. Kris Steele of Shawnee are campaigning for the speaker's job.
