Oklahoma City, OK – Judicial salaries increase won't be sought
OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) The chief justice of the Oklahoma Supreme Court says he won't request an increase in judicial salaries.
Chief Justice James E. Edmondson said Thursday he wants the Board of Judicial Compensation to know the judiciary is aware of the state budget crisis. Edmondson says the judicial branch has absorbed its fiscal year 2010 budget reductions and has cut the budget for fiscal year 2011.
The board meets on Tuesday. The last judicial pay raise was approved in 2007.
The Administrative Office of the Courts says Edmondson receives $147,000 a year as the chief justice; his Supreme Court colleagues get $137,655; district court judges are paid $124,373; associate district court judges receive $114,713; and special district court judges are paid $105,053.
