Sperry, OK – Former employee sues Sperry schools

SPERRY, Okla. (AP) A former employee of Sperry Public Schools has sued the district alleging she was forced to serve playground duty in the sun although she has skin cancer.

Keli Morgan, a former Cherokee Nation family advocate for Sperry Elementary School, filed the complaint Friday in U.S. District Court in Tulsa. It alleges the district failed to accommodate her under the Americans With Disabilities Act.

The lawsuit follows an Equal Employment Opportunity Commission complaint by Morgan earlier this year against Sperry Elementary School Principal Stephanie Holcomb. Morgan's attorney, Jeff Nix, says that complaint, which lodged similar allegations, went unresolved.

Holcomb is no longer with the school. She recently accepted a settlement with the district in relation to another matter.

Superintendent Jim Sisney says he was unaware of the federal lawsuit.
