Oklahoma City, OK – Henry working to fill new state post

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) Gov. Brad Henry is still talking with the top candidates to become the state's new chief information officer.

But Henry said Thursday he does not expect to make a final decision by Friday.

A new law created a chief information officer to oversee all state computer information and technology operations.

The statute set the salary between $130,000 and $160,000. The position requires a bachelor's degree in computer information systems or a similar field plus 10 years of experience, including seven of direct management.

A total of 244 applicants applied. Henry interviewed the top five candidates and had planned to make the appointment in December. Under the law, the appointment was to be made by Jan, 1, 2010.
