Oklahoma City, OK –
OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) House Speaker Chris Benge and Senate President Pro Tem Glenn Coffee plan a lawsuit challenging a federal health care law recently passed by Congress.

The Republican legislative leaders said Tuesday they will challenge the constitutionality of the legislation that requires citizens to purchase health care insurance.

Benge and Coffee revealed their plans more than a week after Democratic Attorney General Drew Edmondson refused to join 19 other states that are challenging the health care law. Edmondson says he would only file a lawsuit if required to by the Legislature.

But Benge says legislative leaders don't want the attorney general to represent Oklahomans in the matter. Benge says he's concerned the attorney general's effort would be lackluster.
