Oklahoma Floods

By Associated Press

Oklahoma City, OK – There were dramatic rescues across the Oklahoma City area as people scrambled to safety in trees and on rooftops to get above fast-moving floodwaters. The National Weather Service says a few spots received 10 inches of rain from a storm that lasted about six hours. No serious injuries have been reported.
Lt. Gov. Jari Askins has declared a state of emergency for 59 Oklahoma counties affected by storms and flooding and more could be added. Askins issued the declaration because Gov. Brad Henry is out of state. The move helps local governments get reimbursed for their storm costs and could lead to federal aid.
