Oklahoma City, OK – Askins welcomes Henry's help in Okla. gov. race

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) Lt. Gov. Jari Askins says she plans to make some room on the stump in her campaign for Oklahoma governor for one of the state's most popular Democrats current Gov. Brad Henry.

Henry already endorsed Askins after her primary win over Attorney General Drew Edmondson. But the term-limited governor said this week people shouldn't be surprised to see him on the campaign trail with Askins.

Askins will face Republican U.S. Rep. Mary Fallin in the Nov. 2 general election.

Even in a red state like Oklahoma, SoonerPoll CEO Bill Shapard says Henry consistently enjoys approval ratings higher than 60 percent and they even reached into the 80s shortly after his re-election in 2006.
