Tulsa, Ok – Bill would make 2 state museums self-funding

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) A state House committee has approved legislation to make two state museums self-funding and to phase out state appropriations.

The measure was approved Thursday by the House Government Modernization Committee and now goes to the full House for consideration.

The bill would require the Will Rogers Memorial Museum and the J.M. Davis Arms and Historical Museum to gradually become self-funding. Its author, Rep. Leslie Osborn of Tuttle, says the move will free up more money for schools, roads and other needs while the state experiences a budget shortfall.
