Holdenville, OK – Okla city bans pseudoephedrine in anti-meth effort

HOLDENVILLE, Okla. (AP) The Oklahoma city of Holdenville has banned the sale of pseudoephedrine, a popular cold medicine that is among the key ingredients in making methamphetamine.

Holdenville took the step after being urged by Claremore anti-meth activist David Starkey, who says he wants the drug banned as a way to protect innocent victims harmed by meth addiction. Starkey says he hopes other cities also enact the ban.

Starkey has the backing of the Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs, which says the ban will slow meth production.
