Oklahoma City, OK – Okla. Gov. Mary Fallin to undergo hip surgery

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) Oklahoma Gov. Mary Fallin plans to have arthroscopic surgery on her left hip to relieve pain she has experienced in recent months.

Communications director Alex Weintz (WENTS) says the governor will have the outpatient surgery Tuesday morning at an Oklahoma City hospital. Weintz says she will return to the Governor's Mansion later in the morning and work from there for the remainder of the week while she recovers.

He says Fallin plans to return to the Governor's Office at the State Capitol next week. Several weeks of physical therapy are also planned.

The website of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons says arthroscopy is a surgical procedure that orthopedic surgeons use to examine, diagnose and treat problems inside a joint. It is considered a minimally invasive surgical procedure.
