Oklahoma City, OK – Chairman: Okla. tax credits should face scrutiny

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) The head of a task force examining hundreds of millions of dollars in tax breaks offered by Oklahoma each year says the state's Quality Jobs Program that provides cash rebates to companies that hire new employees should be viewed as a model for other state tax incentives.

Officials with the Oklahoma Department of Commerce discussed the Quality Jobs Program on Wednesday during a meeting of a task force studying state tax credits.

State Rep. David Dank, a Republican from Oklahoma City, is co-chairman of the task force. Dank says he expects the task force will recommend legislation that involves stricter oversight and requirements for some of the tax credits offered to various companies.
