RAMONA, Okla. (AP) — Transportation officials in Oklahoma have shut down northbound lanes of U.S. 75 near Ramona in Washington County after portions of the road buckled.

Oklahoma Department of Transportation spokeswoman Kenna Mitchell says heat in the region likely played a role in the buckling of the asphalt on Monday. The National Weather Service reports temperatures reached 101 degrees in nearby Bartlesville during the day.

ODOT says the lanes will remain closed until Saturday and the Oklahoma Highway Patrol says traffic is being diverted onto the shoulder of the roadway.
