TULSA, Okla. (AP) — A U.S. magistrate judge has ordered a mental competency examination for a Skiatook man who allegedly threated Republican U.S. Rep. John Sullivan of Tulsa.

The exam for 52-year-old Wayne Franklin Miles was ordered during a hearing Monday in U.S. District Court in Tulsa and was not opposed by federal prosecutors.

Miles allegedly walked into the Skiatook Police Department on July 22 and threatened to kill Sullivan because he believed Sullivan was having an affair with Miles' wife.

Sullivan said in a statement to The Associated Press that he doesn't know Miles or Miles' wife. A spokesman for Sullivan has said security for the congressman was enhanced following the threat.

Miles is to return to court Oct. 25 when the results of the exam are to be presented.
