MCALESTER, Okla. (AP) — Authorities say an inmate was found dead at the Oklahoma State Penitentiary in McAlester.

Guards found the 55-year-old inmate dead Monday morning.

The TV station says the inmate was incarcerated on first-degree murder charge out of Cleveland County. His name wasn't immediately released.

Warden's Assistant Terry Crenshaw says the prisoner's death is under investigation. The man didn't have a cell partner at the time of his death and no staff injuries were reported.
