Tulsa Women Attacked by Pit bull in Fair Condition

TULSA, Okla. (AP) — Two Tulsa women who were critically injured by a pit bull in on the city's north side are now in fair condition.

A St. John Medical Center spokeswoman said 78-year-old Irene Parker and 43-year-old Beverly Wright remained hospitalized Thursday for injuries suffered in Tuesday's attack.

Authorities say the two were leaving religious literature at homes in the area when the dog came out of a house and attacked after the owner opened the door when the women knocked. A man working nearby who heard their screams shot and killed the dog, which is now being tested for rabies.
