Bids are opened for health care services for Tulsa jail inmates today. It’s the first time since the Sheriff’s Office re-acquired the jail that medical services have been put out for bid. Undersheriff Tim Albin says the focus has changed since 2005 when Tulsa County law enforcement took back management of the jail from a private company, there’s more of an emphasis on mental health and electronic record keeping.

Several bids were received and opened at the courthouse. Albin expects the cost to reach four and a half million and up for a one year contract. A contact will likely be awarded next month.
