Tulsa Man Sentenced to Life in Prison for Slayings

KWGS News

TULSA, Okla. (AP) — A jury has sentenced an Oklahoma man to life in prison for the slayings of two people who were found dead in a church parking lot in Tulsa.

A jury this week found 26-year-old Zane Atchison guilty of two counts of first-degree murder in the 2011 shooting deaths of Patrick Shawn and Kaylyn Kosofsky. The jury also found Atchison guilty of larceny of an automobile.

The Tulsa World reports that jurors on Friday sentenced Atchison to two life-without-parole prison terms for the murders and to life with the possibility of parole for the auto-theft conviction.

Prosecutors were seeking the death penalty for the two murder charges.

Atchison's co-defendant, Joel Rosales Pina, is set to stand trial later.
