A new contract to provide medical care for Tulsa jail inmates is signed. It will cost $200,000 more, but the deal includes improved services for those with mental health issues and a telemedicine component that should save money. Tulsa County Purchasing Director Linda Dorrell helped negotiate the 3.6 million dollar contract with Armor Correctional Health. She says it addresses the growing number of inmates with mental health problems, and includes two additional nurses to speed up processing of medical forms and medications.

The new contract goes into effect November 1st.
