OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — The Oklahoma Board of Health has approved new paperwork that must be filled out for a girl under 18 to obtain an abortion.
The board voted Tuesday to approve new parental consent forms for pregnant minors seeking abortions. The Oklahoman reports that the new paperwork will require a photocopy of the parent's government-issued ID and written documentation that the individual is the lawful parent of the pregnant girl.
The board approved the new paperwork in advance of new state laws taking effect Nov. 1.
Under the new law, If a doctor finds that a pregnant minor must undergo an emergency abortion, the doctor must fill out a form and notify the girl's parent by certified mail that he or she performed the procedure.
