TAHLEQUAH, Okla. (AP) — A man accused in the killing of a Northeastern State University professor has pleaded guilty to separate charges in Tulsa County.
Authorities say Joshua Schneider led police on a chase near Tulsa on July 18 and got away after abandoning his vehicle with his 2-year-old daughter inside. He was arrested about a week later and was charged in both Tulsa and Cherokee counties.
The Tahlequah Daily Press reports that Schneider has pleaded guilty to child neglect, eluding and leaving the scene of a crash. He was sentenced to 15 years in prison.
First Assistant District Attorney Jack Thorp says prosecutors are working to bring Schneider to Tahlequah, where he faces charges of first-degree murder and arson in the death of NSU professor Tiffany Maher.
