Tulsa Jail Overcrowding Could Mean Tax Vote

A special panel is meeting every couple of weeks to find ways to reduce inmate numbers in the constantly overcrowded Tulsa jail.

Sheriff Stanley Glanz says there are only temporary solutions available right now, but he hopes for a more permanent solution in 2014. He says it will take more funding and resources and that likely means a tax increase.

Glanz says a group that includes his office is putting together a package that includes possible dates for a vote, but it's too early to make plans public yet. He does hope for a vote sooner rather than later.
