The Osage Nation Congress votes in Pawhuska to remove tribal Chief John Red Eagle from Office. After a multi day trial, the members of Congress voted on the six articles of removal against the chief. He was found guilty on five of the six.

John Red Eagle was accused of malfeasance in office, arrogation of power and disregarding his constitutional duties and oath of office. Members of a congressional committee had initially recommended Red Eagle be removed from office after they investigated 15 accusations against the chief since he took over the position of executive leader of the tribe in mid-2010.

He has denied any wrong doing. After the judge notified him of the verdict, Scott Big Horse was sworn in as the new chief of the Osage Nation.
