Oklahoma Educators to Hold Town Hall Meetings

TULSA, Okla. (AP) — The Oklahoma State Department of Education is set to host its next town hall meetings in northeastern Oklahoma.

Department officials are to meet with parents, educators and others who are interested in education starting at 6 p.m. Monday at the Tulsa Technology Center's Owasso Campus and at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Northeast Technology Center in Pryor.

The meetings are intended to provide information about the academic standards that public schools will use during the next two years until new standards are developed, and about how the recent loss of the federal No Child Left Behind Act waiver could affect local schools.

Other meetings are set for Oct. 27 in Weatherford; Oct. 28 in Altus; Nov. 10 in Ponca City; Nov. 11 in Okmulgee; and Nov. 17 in Kingfisher.
