Lankford to Chair Homeland Security Subcommittee

Lankford

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — Freshman U.S. Sen. James Lankford has been named chairman of a subcommittee of the Senate's Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee.

Committee Chairman Ron Johnson named Lankford the chairman of the Subcommittee on Regulatory Affairs and Federal Management. The subcommittee oversees the management, efficiency and effectiveness of various federal agencies, including the effectiveness of national security methods.

The subcommittee also examines the federal rulemaking process, the federal workforce and some operations of the District of Columbia.

Lankford, a Republican, was elected in November to the seat vacated by the retirement of Republican Sen. Tom Coburn.
