CHEROKEE, Okla. (AP) — A 4.0 magnitude earthquake has rattled the small town of Cherokee in northwest Oklahoma.
The U.S. Geological Survey says the earthquake was recorded about 8:24 a.m. Friday near the town.
No injuries or damage was reported.
The survey also recorded two earlier temblors in Oklahoma Friday — a 2.9 magnitude quake near the Oklahoma City suburb of Edmond and a 2.6 magnitude quake near the town of Stillwater.
Geologists say earthquakes of magnitude 2.5 to 3.0 are generally the smallest that are felt by humans and damage is not likely in quakes below magnitude 4.0.
