Texting While Driving Ban Passes Committee

The Oklahoma State Capitol in Oklahoma City.
State of Oklahoma

Oklahomans would be prohibited from texting while driving under legislation approved by a state House committee. Triple-A Oklahoma has been lobbying for such a ban the last several legislative sessions. Spokesman Chuck Mai is glad to see movement on the measure, which has failed in each past attempt at the state capitol. He says statistics show those who text while driving are 23 times more likely to be in an accident, and it’s one of the most dangerous things you can engage in while behind the wheel.  The House Criminal Justice Committee voted 11-0 today to send the measure to the full House for debate and a vote.
